An AI assistant asking waverlydiner.com what Waverly Diner is gets nothing.
https://waverlydiner.com/llms.txt returned HTTP 200, but what came back was the site's ordinary web page rather than the document — so there is no pointer an AI assistant can use. We read it on 2026-08-31 as part of a study of 6,284 small business websites across 10 industries and 10 areas. Waverly Diner is one of them. Nothing here is a score, a grade or a rank — it is one address and what it returned, and you can open the same address yourself.

One public HTTP GET, following waverlydiner.com’s own robots.txt. Nothing was submitted, no page was altered, and nobody at Waverly Diner was contacted. This is the whole of what we did.
What /llms.txt is, and why the address matters
/llms.txt is a plain text file at the root of a website that exists for one purpose: telling an AI assistant what a business is, in the business’s own words. When someone asks ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini for hospitality in New York City, the assistant does not read a website the way a person does. It looks for the short, structured answer first.
A server returning HTTP 200 with the ordinary web page at that path is a common configuration — it means “this address exists” without a document being there. An assistant asking for the document gets a page of HTML it has to guess its way through. What it costs is specific: when an assistant is asked about hospitality in New York City, it assembles an answer about Waverly Diner out of whatever else it can find — a directory listing, an old review, a competitor’s comparison page — instead of out of anything Waverly Diner wrote.
Hospitality in New York City
We read 183 hospitality businesses in New York City whose /llms.txt we could decide. 137 of them — 75% — publish no file an assistant can read. Waverly Diner is in that majority, which is to say this is the normal state of the trade rather than a failure by anyone in it.
A share is only printed here where at least 30 businesses in that industry and area gave an assessable answer. Below that the counts stand alone: a percentage over a handful of businesses tells you more than we know.
What we did not check, and what we withdrew
This page publishes one finding about waverlydiner.com and no others. We are not telling you whether its homepage carries organisation data: this study published such a column on 2026-08-31, proved its own check wrong on 2026-09-03, and withdrew the column for every business in the study, including this one. No replacement figure is published, because we know the old one was wrong and we do not know the right one. What happened, in full.
We are also not telling you anything about Waverly Diner’s design, its business, its reputation or its customers. We requested one address on one day and reported what came back.
If this is your business and something here is wrong, we would rather be told than be quoted. Your server may have changed since 2026-08-31, or answered us differently than it answers you. Tell us and we will correct this page in place with a note saying what changed, or remove it.
Check your own site as it is today
This page is a reading taken on 2026-08-31. Your site right now is a different question, and it takes about eight seconds to settle. Our free check reports the URL and the HTTP status behind every line, so you can open the same address and see the same thing, and it returns unknown rather than missing when it could not read something. No email required.
